Q: Tell us a little bit about your role.
I manage the relationships in our West TN market from our Atwood location.
Q: How has your role evolved since you’ve been with CBT?
I came in just as the prior president, Paul Moore, was preparing to retire. I was made Market President at the time Lineage Bank was formed.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at CBT?
I have always considered myself a community banker and appreciate the challenge of keeping customers pleased. Each customer and situation are unique, so I enjoy finding creative solutions to help solve their problems. As a community bank, we have the flexibility to do so.
Q: What got you into the banking industry?
I had a good friend who asked me to apply at my local bank in Jackson in 1978. I never would have thought I would find my life career, but here we are 45 years later!
Q: What is the most rewarding part of working at a community bank?
Many people just consider a banker the person who helps you when you go into the location, but that’s not the case. Community banks support the communities they serve in many ways. We get to help make peoples’ dreams come true by helping them build wealth. To me, that’s extremely rewarding, especially when it’s the families and businesses in your town.
Q: What is your best advice for someone looking to get into banking?
Do some research into the bank you are wanting to work for. Find out what their true mission as an institution is. If it fits, you go for it. For me, it’s been an extremely rewarding career, and I’m confident anyone with even somewhat of a passion for serving others will be right at home in banking.
Q: I understand you’ve been in the industry for over four decades. How has it evolved since your career began?
I have seen unbelievable advances in technology, allowing us to better serve the customer. Government regulation has increased tremendously.
Q: What are some of your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
I really enjoy finishing with my grandson. I also enjoy playing a round of 18 whenever I get the chance.

Tennessee Volunteers!
